Joji, remember how we were supposed to go Cherating, then Club Med, then
Fraser's Hill, Gold Coast, and PD for your farewell but never did and Sharm, the one nite
trip to PD while you were here in January; Well we finally took a trip to and here's the
post mortem. We were supposed to take off from Anu's house
at 7am but i only woke up 7:06 and picked up Harun 45 minutes later. We left at 9am or so
and got there about 10:30. We had breakfast at the World Famous PD Roti Canai shop. Anush
said that the roti canai there was delicious back in the 70's. However, if you save it and
serve it 28 years later, it tends to lose some off its flavour and fluffiness. Explains
why she didn't have any. Tes and Anush then spent 1/2 hour shopping for plastic fruits and
veggies. Gals, eating that stuff isn't going to make you lose weight; it might kill and
definitely you won't have to worry about weight loss any more.
After that we drove along the coastal road looking for THE spot but
couldn't find any. We didn't feel like going to a public beach so we started going into
every other back road. We turned into Guoman and thought about sneaking into their beach
but didn't relish the thought of being thrown out. We stopped by the old TNB bungalows.
They leveled the place, literally, but no work whatsoever has started other than the steel
green fencing and the signboard stating 'Cadangan Membina Kondominium'. So we drove on
some more, past Irama Bayu, past Rachado Point, and into a back road that had the Army's
Gempur Armor unit. I would've loved to drive off any of the tanks or armoured cars. We
went straight on into the Tractors Bhd bungalow and turned back and saw a small sign
saying Semai Bakti Beach Resort.
We went in and found a quaint, maybe 1/2 star motel. But the beach was
beautiful. An enquiry found we only had to pay for parking fees in order to use their
beach. The owner probably was borned and lived his entire life there, never to set foot
outside his enclave. The 3 of them, especially Harun, just munched and munched junk food
until there was no more room left. Then we played beach soccer guys against the girls.
After we got home i thought about the whole thing and realized how we played mirrored our
love lives. Harun and i played a thinking, tactical game. We spent as much time dribbling
and passing as we did positioning ourselves ie, if Harun was dribbling, i ran around
looking for an opening thru which he could pass it to me without risking interception. And
if necessary i'd tapped it right back to him after he passed it. But the girls, their
strategy, if you can call it that, was to go all out after whoever had the ball and if
that didn't work just grab him and throw him into the ground. Any wonder why they can't
land a guy while we gone thru many girls.
After that those 3 sat on the beach and went on about what kind of girl
that Rizal would date and marry and what happens after that for more than 1 hour
(apparently they've done each other's during an earlier Haagen Dasz session). I told them
to email me their results. I went on jogging on the beach and walking in the waves (this
is damn bloody tiring). Thruout the day i played soccer on the beach's edge against the
wind and the waves and that's even more tiring. It didn't help that Tes had to buy a limp
beach ball which had lost 12% of its air by the time we got to the beach.
With about 1 hour to go, those 3 started playing Uno cards. Apparently
who ever gets rid of all his cards first wins. They piled Harun with almost all the cards
but against all odds he won, THREE games, and the worst part was that each time he made
sure the entire PD population and those living on the eastern and southeastern beaches of
Sumatra knew about it. i was quite tired from playing beach soccer and sat down quietly
under a tree enjoying the sight and the cool wind. Obviously it's no Redang, but
considering it's PD and the fact that there was NOBODY else there, it was a good beach.
The water's not as clear as Pangkor, the sand is heavy, not the kind where you can build
sandcastles and bury your feet in. The water line showed at air pasang the sea would come
at the closest maybe 3 or 4 metres away from the wall that separated the motel and the
beach.
We left at 2:30pm and paid 5rm for parking fees (we could've snuck off
quietly but that's not nice). Room rates were 65rm for single rooms and 75rm for double.
Add 10rm if you come during weekends. i might just come back if i can find it again. It's
somewhere between Avillion and Guoman. Overall i think everybody thoroughly enjoyed the
trip. i did. But for those who didn't make it, you'd have to get the story verbally from
those who did to really get a feel of what happened. Later dudes.
