 | Appetisers
 | The day didn't start off so well, as I had a bit of a cold which alternated between
giving me a running nose or a blocked one. This generally results in a more grumpy and
anti-social me. |
 | Nevertheless, as it has been a long tradition in my office, if it is someone's birthday,
a cake would 'appear' and a short celebration take place. So, today is my day, and Hairus,
Aniza, Zaiton, Zahrah and Nor Eda had got me a delicious 'Secret Recipe' Blueberry Cheese
cake, with no candles ("too many to put on cake-lah") but instead incribed it
with my age (34). Those who were lucky got a taste of the cake, like En. Rahman, Mr. Tee,
Mr. Khor, Rozy, all the Admin people. Kak Ros (from Finance) came later in the afternoon,
and took the remainder of the cake to be distributed among the Wackos of Anush, Rizal and
also Yasmin. |

 | Main Meal
 | I had booked 10 tickets to see the show put up by Paula Malai Ali called "Mahna
Mahna" - this inspired by the fact that I had personally met her just last week. It
was part singing, part comedy, presented in a theatrical style with live jazz music
accompaniment led by Michael Veerapen, and Paula was assisted by her friends: boisterous
Iskandar Najmuddin, eccentric Edwin Sumun, excellently funny Puvan Selvanathan and the
lovely Maya Roelcke. |
 | Only nine made it to the show: Azian, Rizal, Bobby, Mazlina, Tesy, Anussa, Yasmin, and
Devendran. Tesy's mysterious friend, who was supposed to make her debut tonight, still
remains a mystery. (But she called the next day to wish me "Happy Birthday.") |
 | The funny thing that happened was the Wackos pretended to had forgotten about my
birthday and thought that it was tomorrow. They even denied the fact that Kak Ros had
brought the blueberry cheese cake to them. So, it was a real surprise when, just after the
performance started and the lights were dimmed, that the waiter brought in my birthday
cake (this time with a few candles: three big, and four smaller ones) together with a
knife long enough to slaughter a bull. |
 | They presented me with two gifts: one was a mug from Kuching, that had a cat engraved on
it; the other was a Halloween rubber mask with the face of an ugly witch, which I was
forced to don there and then. |

 | Dessert
 | After Paula's presentation was over, we adjorned over to Modestos, which was just
opposite. The "scenery" was deliciously mouth-watering, but because it was
sardin-packed, we decided to try out Iguana's instead. The crowd here wasn't so enticing,
but at least you could boogie on the dance floor. |
 | It was a most eventful and surprising birthday, and when I got home, I was feeling
really good about it. |
